One of my goddaughter's favorite playthings, when she was younger, was Play-Doh. She had dozens of cans around the house, and when they dried out she would get very sad. That's why I have this recipe for homemade play dough! Now you never have to run out. While it's technically edible, too, I wouldn't suggest trying this as a snack lol!
Homemade Play Dough
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup salt
1 tablespoon cream of tartar
Up to 3/4 cups boiling water
Food coloring (optional)
Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil in a large mixing bowl.
Add food coloring to the boiling water then add the liquid to the dry ingredients in increments until it feels just right.
Stir continuously until becomes sticky. Allow it to cool down then take it out of the bowl and knead it vigorously for a couple of minutes until all of the stickiness has gone.
This is the most important part of the process, so keep at it until it's the perfect consistency! Add more flour if the dough is too sticky.
